Preparations for potential severe weather

With so many companies transitioning some, most or all of their workforce to teleworking and the potential for severe weather over the next day or so, it's likely that a number of organizations will start the day tomorrow with outages and connectivity problems. It's a little close to the wire but we wanted to reach out with some quick thoughts on managing weather-related issues or outages. Appoint a person or small group as a primary point of contact for problems. Funnel all support requests and reports through that person or small group. With so many people working remote, it's likely that large groups of workers will impacted by the same or similar events (e.g., everyone with Comcast is down, everyone with AT&T is down, everyone in Marietta is down, everyone…

Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service and local weather stations have issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Tuesday, 29 January from 3:00am to 7:00pm. Bartow County and several surrounding school systems have already adjusted their schedules in preparation for the potential snow and/ or ice. Possible inclement on Tuesday and Wednesday

The National Weather Service and local weather stations are reporting the possibility of inclement weather starting this evening (Tuesday) and potentially lasting through Wednesday.  Additionally, temperatures are expected to remain well below to only slightly above freezing during this time.  Cartersville City as well as Bartow County (and several surrounding school systems) have already adjusted their schedules in preparation for the potential of snow and / or ice.  We will be watching the weather closely and will be posting updates and announcements to our Facebook page.

Closing at 2:00pm ET Monday, 11 Sept 2017, possible late opening on Tuesday

We will be closing at 2:00pm ET on Monday, 11 September 2017 to get our folks home in advance of forecast bad weather resulting from Hurricane Irma.  We will be monitoring incoming support requests and responding as conditions allow. At this time, we plan to open tomorrow (Tuesday, 12 September 2017) by 10:00am ET if conditions permit.  We will be updating our website here as well as social media with any changes.

Hurricane Irma

Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the path of hurricane Irma now and over the coming days. We will be watching the path of the storm closely and will be announcing any changes to our normal business hours here and posting those changes to our Facebook and Twitter accounts.  If we do have to close the shop, we will be monitoring the incoming support requests closely and responding as conditions allow. With the storm bearing down, now would be a good time to confirm that all of your unnecessary electronic equipment is powered off and disconnected (in the event of flooding, this will give the equipment the best chance of surviving) and that any mission critical equipment is connected to at least surge protection or ideally backup battery…
