End of Life for Windows Server 2012 - October was the last month of updates, including bug fixes, security updates, etc., for Microsoft Windows Server 2012. If you still have Windows Server 2012 installed in your environment, Microsoft strongly recommends making plans to decommission it as soon as possible. Changes to the MyIT Program - We are in the process of making some changes to the MyIT Program that we're pretty excited about. The biggest and most visible change for most MyIT Customers will likely be related to communications. There will be some changes to the monthly report as well as some reminders about systems that may need extra attention. Updates to Policies and Procedures - We've made some slight changes to our Policies and Procedures and posted them here. Six Zero Day vulnerabilities patched by Microsoft this month, all of which are being actively exploited by threat actors. All MyIT Customers should be updated and protected against all of these vulnerabilities but it is critical to reboot if prompted by the update management tool. Microsoft and Apple (oddly enough) released updates to bugs that are being actively attacked. Adobe released updates to a number of products including Reader, Acrobat, Commerce and Connect.The MyIT Program is proving to be a huge win for clients who are signing up for or renewing their Ransomware / Cyber Insurance plans. The MyIT Program is designed to address those important (but, sometimes, not as urgent) issues that seem to go undone until there's a problem (like testing your backup before a ransomware attack). Executive Summary May 2021 is proving to be a busy month (already) from a technology perspective. Between massive ransomware attacks on critical infrastructure (and $5M USD ransoms paid) to newly patched wormable vulnerabilities (that could easily be weaponized and used against other critical infrastructure targets) to the latest Windows Feature Release, IT Pros have certainly been tested.
